This book and the concept are incredible. The ME approach to health and exercise has changed my life and my body. I no longer spend hours in the gym and have incredible results. I have been doing ME for several years, including throughout my entire pregnancies. As the working mother of four, I need a workout that is going to effective, but not time consuming. ME is the answer. It only takes 30 minutes! I highly recommend it for anyone, as the workout is based on the individual’s pace. I also just ordered the new DVD and can’t wait to have it in my home at my convenience. Here is the link to the DVD coming out in May [...]

Imagine a diet and workout protocol that is tailored to you. This book delivers that. Before I read this, I had 2 limiting beliefs: 1. You are stuck with the metabolism you were born with, and 2.you had to put forth a tremendous effort to make changes to your body. Well, along comes The New ME Diet and you find both of these assumptions seriously challenged. (and thank goodness for that). Drs. Jade and Keoni Teta (who have thousands of hours of personal training between them) have created a system that is as effective as it is easy to follow …for the rest of your life! (not just another diet you will quit in 2 weeks). With this system, you are not just learning to get fit, but addressing all of the other health parameters as well. (the authors say “exercise is medicine”). When you read this book, you will believe and KNOW, that you don’t count calories (doing so actually works against you). You change your metabolism and that invokes the “fat-burning machinery” built into your DNA. The book is divided into 3 main parts: 1.How the ME Diet works 2.Identify what kind of “burner”you are 3. The workout(s) and diet(s) that are a match to your metabolic type.

Several new concepts about exercise and diet are introduced (and how the main stream media and food pyramid gets it wrong), which I thought was worth the price of the book. We all know we need to exercise and eat smart, but not all information on how best to do this is equal. The authors have science and experience on their side.

It would be really great if they taught this in school to children. Are you listening Mrs.Obama? Great book.

I almost don’t know where to begin – Jade and Keoni have literally changed my life with their ME program!! It really is more than just a diet, it’s a sustainable way of life!!

I’m a “live to eat” kind of girl who loves food and has constantly battled those extra 20 to 35 pounds, but has never been able to keep them off. With this program, I lost 25 pounds, 10% body fat and 5″ around my waist (I’m an apple vs. a pear). Even more importantly, my whole approach to food and exercise has changed. Don’t get me wrong, I still love food, I just don’t crave it the way I used to. I also used to think that I didn’t have time to exercise, but it is easy to fit in their 20-30 minute workouts and you WILL get results! Even if you don’t have an ME class in your city, you can easily follow the program right in your own living room with just a couple of dumbbells!

There are SO many benefits to this program, there’s no way to list them all. I am stronger, more fit and have more energy than I have in years. My body, and even my skin, definitely looks different, but it also “feels different” and I love it!

My success with the program actually “inspired” several of my friends to sign on. I think they figured if I could do it, anyone could, and they were right! Buy the book…I promise you won’t regret it!

I recently purchased a few books on nutrition and learned a great many things about how to eat right and use food in a way that’s conducive to weight loss by sticking to foods that are low on the Glycemic Index. The New ME Diet doesn’t reference the GI specifically, but its eating plan is very similar in principle. What this new book has that my other books do not is a comprehensive exercise plan that works in tandem with the eating plan.

The fact is, folks, there’s just no getting around working out if you have significant weight to lose otherwise you’ll end up with loose skin and zero muscle tone or definition if you diet alone. The best thing about the ME plan is that all you need to get a fantastic workout is a couple of dumbbells. There are no massive machines or expensive accessories that you need to purchase and you don’t even have to join a gym. The ME diet also dispels the myth that cardio exercise alone is the key to fat loss.

If you’re looking for another “fad diet”, look elsewhere. If you’re looking to make lifestyle changes that are long overdue, The New ME Diet will give you all the tools you need to start improving your quality of life in a sustainable manner. I’d like to close by offering my humble thanks to the authors for putting together such an excellent book that has completely changed my approach to healthy living.

Most of the reviews I’ve read here read like advertisements for this book and diet plan. I understand that the authors would like a groundswell of support and Amazon is a good way to begin this, but the reviews here are likely not reflective of what you’d hear from your average reader and user of this plan.

There is very little (perhaps nothing, actually) that is new in this book. Have you ever read a diet book that directs you to eat several small meals spaced out during the day, not to eat too close to bed time, to eat fruit, vegetables and lean meats, and walk 30-60 minutes per day with a few weight-lifting work outs a week? You have? Well, so have I, and you’ll read that advice again in this book.

As in most diet books, the authors walk you through basic metabolism and basic nutrition. They write about hormones. It’s nothing that hasn’t been outlined in other diet books many times over. Overall I’ve found that diet books tend to focus on the parts of biochemistry and nutrition that most closely match the plan they are promoting. This book is no different.

After taking a questionnaire you are given a general grouping of your metabolic type and directed to a diet that contains more or less of the same ingredients in slightly altered quantities from each other. It’s a fairly boring diet plan overall – no surprises, you can imagine how many ways lean meats can be combined with fruit and veg and “acceptable fats”, can’t you? South Beach would tell you similar things, as would Weight Watchers and probably countless others. There are some cheat meals – again, similar to other diet plans I’ve read. Cheat, but cheat smart. You’ve heard that before as well most likely.

The exercise plan I’ve already outlined – do it moderately every day for 30-60 minutes and then follow a strength training routine the likes of which you’ll find monthly in Shape magazine or similar. If you need something mapped out for you, this book will give you that.

Reading back over my review I see I sound pretty “meh” about this book, and that’s an accurate take on it. There’s nothing revolutionary here and I would suggest checking this out of your library rather than purchasing it, as it’s not the diet book you’ll want or need on your shelf long term. I would take the bulk of the reviews already listed with a grain of salt. If serious personal trainers and workoutaholics who have written surprisingly excited reviews here about this book haven’t already heard the information contained in it a thousand times over, I’ll eat my own laptop.

On my annual girl’s trip to the mountains, I became interested in the ME lifestyle because one of my more voluptuous girlfriends had become quite a bit less curvy than the last time I had seen her. She had just finished the 10 week ME online nutrition program and she was absolutely glowing! Her skin looked so good. She was stronger and leaner, and after a weekend of listening to her, I was hooked!

If you are really ready to lose fat and are willing to give up old ideas (no more looking at calories, and no more running on the treadmill# There is NO WAY this lifestyle will not work for you. It takes a little bit of planning and a lot of tupperware, but after a few weeks, it truly becomes second nature.

The most amazing thing to me was that I used to skip breakfast #and lunch half the time). Every day between 3-4 I had to get a cup of coffee to make it through the day. I would get home and rummage through the pantry “like Sherman marching through Georgia” and gobble down whatever I could find. Now I eat a LOT more, and I have learned my body’s signals and I never get that uncontrollable hunger that leads to that “binge eating” I have steady energy all day and have not needed an afternoon cup of coffee since I started.

5 minute warm up, 20 minute killer workout and 5 minute cool down and stretch. I am addicted and I have seen the results in friends and myself. During the ten week online program, I lost 8 percentage points of fat, gained quite a bit of muscle and went from a size 12 to between a 6-8.It feels so good to feel good every day!

Since Jade and Keoni have not found a way to physically clone themselves and most of you are not from Winston-Salem… Gotta buy the book…Then make sure you find a trainer who is certified ME. You will be drinking the Kool Aid too!

I have a lot of respect for the authors of this book, especially the fact that they pursued naturopathic medicine instead of traditional medicine. Yeah! We need more naturopaths being recognized for their treatment of the whole body and prevention. I raced to get the book the day you came out. I loved that it is geared specifically at changing the metabolism and body sculpting, rather than just weightloss. My constructive criticism is this: 1) Where are the before and after pictures? Information tells, but stories sell. I was very pleased with the stories that were included but would have loved to see some photos attached? 2) The title is misleading and unfortunately does not share the full lifestyle change that the book encompasses… WAY more than a diet book. 3) Is there a way to validate the type of burner that I am? I took the test and it came up that I am a muscle burner, but I am so skeptical that that is true. As I read the subsequent chapters on diet geared to a muscle burner, I kept being concerned that I scored correctly. Is there another validation point? Overall, I highly recommend the book b/c I know it delivers results from all the people who live in this area who I know have been going to the doctors or involved in the Metabollic Effect system. Thanks for putting the information all in one place!

First of all, this approach works and it works well. It was very easy, following their guidelines, to adopt the program as a lifestyle change and get amazing results. I am a 40 year old male who used to be active and play sports but hasn’t been able to do any exercise in 10 years. My life and responsibilities have left me with little time to keep active and do the sports activities I used to. I got overweight and very flabby. But then, I did a 10 week program outlined by Metabolic Effect and had almost immediate success. I lost 20 pounds in the first 3 weeks and lowered my body fat by 7%! I am now sleeping better, have not been catching colds from my kids, have more energy, and feel happier than I have in a long time. I also look good and feel strong. All I did was exercise in my home every morning for 20 – 30 minutes 5 days a week. I didn’t need a gym membership or any fancy exercise equipment; just a set of barbells and a new pair of sneakers. The diet is not so bad and never felt too restricting but it does require determination.

One further comment is that my wife is very very happy with me and the results from this program. She is very proud of me and tries to show me off whenever she can; sometimes it’s embarrassing but not because I don’t look good.

I have been on the 10 wk fat loss plan since Feb. 22. The information I’ve learned, which is all clearly outlined in the book, has changed my life. I do not crave sweets and starchy foods as much as I used to and I actually crave vegetables like greens, broccoli, brussel sprouts and salads. I was familiar with the ME workout method before I joined the fat loss program and continue to find it a refreshing and liberating way to workout. I was on my way to being a sprint tri lover. However my life was sidetracked with other priorities and athletics took a back seat, by choice. The ME method allows me to get great quality workouts in short order. It’s freeing to know I can be in shape without spending hours and hours on a bike, running or swimming. The key to success is preparing food/meals in advance or at least having a fool proof strategy to eating your meals on time. If you can eat 5 – 6 small meals and not get hungry you will be amazed at how little your crave sweets or other foods that may be your weakness for your burner type. I practice the tips on cocoa powder, honey before a workout, and fiber supplements like apple pectiin in smoothies, drinking green tea and taking the ME Metabolic Complex vitamin. What you read in the book is pretty much all there is to the lifestyle and after you’ve followed it a few weeks it is a breeze. There is nothing cumbersome or complicated about the ME lifestyle. I recommend the book and encourage you to use all the ME resources available on the web.

Jade is a wonderful teacher, leader and motivator. He totally supports his work in a very hands on way and has a very humble spirit about him. If you have questions please email the ME staff and they will help you in any way possible. The ME staff and brand is a great dependable resource to help you reach success in your fat loss journey.

The caloric model simply does not work, and most programs work in the beginning and fail to deliver sustained results. This book brilliantly uncovers the secret to becoming lean. Hormones. It’s about minimizing stress, eating right for you, learning what foods burn fat vs. store fat, and rest-based high-intensity interval work-outs. It has changed how I think about food and working out, and has made a significant change in my overall health. Highly recommended.

This book is an invaluable asset for anyone regardless of fitness level or age. It is also not “just” a diet book. What Jade and Keoni have done for us is to explain, in an understandable way, how food (not just calories!), movement, stress and sleep affect our metabolism, the way we lose weight, and ultimately how we look and feel. Intuitively I think we all know that the strict “calories in, calories out” model of less food and more exercise does not really make sense or work – not to mention is no fun – and these guys explain why, and how we can fix it. Another major strength of this book is that it recognizes that we are all unique individuals with a unique metabolism and biochemistry. Based on this, the recommendations are tailored to YOU, rather than you having to fit yourself into some pre-determined box. The recommendations and programs laid out in this book are easy to understand, make a ton of sense, and are easy to use over the long term, because they are NOT based on deprivation, will power, and spending hours at the gym. In fact, the reverse is true! Jade and Keoni have influenced me in countless ways and have taught me so much, but I can safely say that I have never looked or felt better in my entire life since following this simple program.

I have been involved in the ME program for 16 months, first as an exercise instructor and then as a participant in their 10 week weight loss program. I can not tell you how much this program has impacted my life. I was resigned to being a chubby senior citizen, without much energy but still working out 4 days a week and teaching yoga at a local gym. I decided to try the 10 week weight loss program in Sept of 2009. It was easy. No hunger; no difficult workouts. I was amazed. I lost 4.5″ from my waist and got rid of all the back, abdominal and tricep fat that seniors get. I have maintained the weight loss, but more important, the fat loss during the 4 months since the program ended. The book which I pre-ordered and have read, tracks the philosophy and the program that I learned during my ME training but also during the 10 week diet program. You will never look at a plate of food the same again, but you will also feel great about yourself and the way you look. Do your body a favor and buy this book. Jade is a great teacher with the science to back up his ideas.

First, the straight facts. I am a 38-year old mom, working around 50hrs/week, who had 3% body fat loss in the first 3 weeks of the (10-week) Metabolic Effect Online Fat Loss Program. Eating more, healthier, not having to deal with compulsions or hunger, eliminating cravings just through the management of food intake. It’s not too good to be true, it’s a fact, and it’s real. I had been bouncing inside the calorie model (calories in, calories out) bubble for several years with no results, and finding Metabolic Effect has truly changed my life.

I first found the Metabolic Effect videos on the internet doing research to optimize my training programs, as a personal trainer. My reaction was “this is IT!!!”. I was excited to learn a new way to help my clients accomplish their fat loss goals and CHANGE their metabolism. I contacted M.E. right away and was welcomed by their staff to join their upcoming certification weekend. I jumped right in, head first, with no hesitation and became a certified instructor. Started following their blogs, news, tips and seeing the results in my own body as a result of incorporating their workout style within my training style. I finally made the move to start their Online Fat Loss Program this year with a solid decision to make this lifestyle change something permanent. I see the results, my husband is following along making changes himself and seeing results too, my clients are experiencing results as well.

If you still can point out a million excuses not to try this, make the decision to find that one reason that will help you make the move to change your lifestyle. Just make it happen. The tool is right here, in front of you.

I discovered about ME at my gym and came accross their website when I was searching information on it. Lo and behold, it was the best move I have ever done. I thought I have always been fit and ate somewhat healthy. Little did I know, my “healthy” definition of eating was totally different from the ME lifestyle. After reading all of the articles from the ME website, I was convinced that I needed to reasses my diet. I got rid of the rice, pasta, sugar, salt, and fat. And I immediately dropped 15 (from 125 to 110 lbs) lbs within three weeks. I started noticing my waist, my face, and my thighs getting smaller. People started noticing the difference on my body. It’s been almost three months that I have been doing the ME excercise and ME diet and I am a true believer! I am proud to say that I am a lot stronger (I can do 5 pull ups straight compare to only one at a time, and can do at least 50 push ups). Over all, I feel so much healthier and stronger. Thanks Jade and Keoni!

The New ME Diet is more than just a diet book, an exercise protocol, or a biochemical evaluation of the two. It is a comprehensive tool revealing the fundamental principles and execution of a well rounded lifestyle leading to fat-loss, energy elevation, and restoration of mind – body synergy.

Being a former softball player, one can only imagine what my body used to look like: short, hefty, thunder thighs, apple bottom, and well-endowed portions. I never considered myself fat, but I was far from skinny. I loved to workout, and after my high school softball days I spent hours exercising during college. Religiously, I was at the gym but over the four years of college I never really noticed any changes in my physique. It didn’t make sense to me. Life was two hours of steady-state cardio a day, an hour or so of lifting five days a week, six hours of sleep, and a constant struggle of food choices. What was wrong with this?

Apparently a lot! After being introduced to Drs. Jade and Keoni Teta, my perspective and lifestyle underwent a profound transformation. My workouts have been cut in half, my quality and quantity of sleep have increased, my food choices are effortless, and my happiness is at a whole new level. Not to mention the physical adaptations, going from a size 12 to a 2-4 and the former softball player appearance turned gymnast!

The best part of about the book: you already have what it takes to make the changes you desire (well, besides a pair of dumbbells and groceries)! There is no need to spend money on gimmicks, mystery supplements, or fancy workout devices. Your health is precious- you owe yourself this!
